Calm weather greeted anglers for the start of the season. Bank anglers caught some nice fish in the G buoy, the stumps, hedge end and hill farm areas on slow sinkers and int' lines'with black and green nymphs. Boats also started well with fish on similar flies, on sinking lines, in similar areas and the north end of the dam. Best fish of the day was a 6Ib 2oz rainbow caught near the dam on a black and green booby fished on a fast sinker. The New Lodge Trophy, for the biggest fish weighed in on the opening day went to a 4Ib 6oz rainbow caught from the harbour on white fritz nymph.
